Spiritual Inhalation

a busy weekend

It’ll be a busy weekend here preparing for our Equinox celebration. We are having dinner on Sunday evening instead of Monday because Tristan has a pre-surgery assessment scheduled for Monday afternoon, at Children’s in Dallas. I don’t think it would work out as well trying to cook around an out of town doctor’s appointment.

Today i need to figure out for sure what i’m making, find my recipes, get the shopping lists made. I need to call my sister and my mom. I’m still trying to decide if i should invite my dad or not. It adds a lot of tension to my family gatherings when both my parents are there, and my dad is the one people have a hard time wanting to be around. He doesn’t really have much connection with family if i don’t invite him, and i don’t like that idea either.

Seth will do the shopping today, and i’ll make the pumpkin pies tonight. At some point today i’d like to read to the kids about the Autumn Equinox from the Circle Round book. We usually at least do that and have discussion about each holiday in the wheel of the year, even if i don’t put together a ritual or have family over. Usually if i pull out Circle Round we at least end up singing or making crafts or decorations. The kids really enjoy it. I will admit i usually slack over the summer holidays, probably because i hate summer and i get exhausted, but i’m trying to get better about it.

There’s housework and yardwork to get done in the midst of everything else. I’m going to try to remember to keep some joyful music playing in the house. It will help me manage my stress and keep me in uplifted spirits if things aren’t going perfectly.

And then there’s still the problem of whether or not to invite dad? Anyone?
